Enjoying gardening doesn't mean you have to have access to a large piece of land. Amazing gardens can be created in small spaces - like balconies and patios using plants that thrive in pots and containers.
If you are a small space gardener you still need the right tools for the job, and somewhere to store them - as you are unlikely to have the space, or need, for a garden shed.
We've put together the Small Space Garden ToolKit No.1 to provide you with the basic tools to grow and maintain a container based garden. Large garden spades and forks aren't of any use, so we start with the Hori Hori. This is a Japanese garden trowel which is perfect for the limited digging you'll be doing, but also works for the weeding duties you might have on the surface of pots and around patio slabs. We've also found it useful to help repot plants (sliding it around the edge/cutting it out if it's pot-bound).
You then have a pair of Garden Snips. Think of these as a lightweight pair of secateurs which are ideal for cutting flowers, collecting herbs and general dead heading/maintenance duties.
Lastly we've included a garden pen knife in the kit. This is used for opening compost bags, cutting string for tiebacks/supports and even for taking cuttings when you start to get adventurous.
Everything is stored in a high quality steel tool box from Japan. With the supplied tools inside you still have plenty of room to store string, labels and seeds etc - anything else you might need. Think of it as your new (mini) shed. Available in three colours - Red, Blue or Olive and designed to look good enough to be left on show when space is at a premium.
The kit comprises of the following items - all of which can be purchased individually by following the links below where you can also find out more information on the individual elements;
