Andersson & Copra Husky Folding Knife

Regular price £129.95 Sale

I’d made a conscious decision not to buy anymore pocket knives.  I’ve got quite a few and even though I’m happy to live by the N + 1 rule (where N is the number of the thing you own/collect/hoard) sometimes you have to draw a line.  Luckily gifts don’t count  and Louise is very perceptive when it comes to remembering items that I've expressed interest in.  So when she gave me a knife shaped birthday present a couple of years ago it was happy days.

The knife she bought me was made in Gothenburg, Sweden by the small team at Andersson & Copra.  Called the Husky it was a high quality friction folder.  Very Swedish in its finish and the material used but with a strong design influence from the traditional Japanese Higonokami folding knives.  The nicest element for me was the copper handle .... as I love copper.

It quickly became a firm favourite.  Great balance and quality.  Plus non locking and under 3 inches blade length so UK legal carry.  I liked it so much that I got in contact with them to see if we’d be able to stock them on the website.  Their response was a very polite “no,”  Well actually it was a “no – not yet” and I really like that response.  For me it speaks a lot about a makers passion and belief in the product they are making.

I kept in contact with Joel & Adisa and some 18 months later I’m really pleased we are  their first retailer in the UK.

So what do you get:

  • The blade is Sandvik 14c28 steel with a Scandi grind.  That makes a great combination of sharpness, strength and ease of sharpening.  The blade itself is 72mm long and when open the knife has an overall length of 172mm.

  • The handles are made from either 1.5mm thick Copper or Brass.  It’s a simple high quality design and uses a stainless pivot screw and phosphor bronze washers.  Less is very much more with this knife.  Both these materials will develop a great patina over time, or can be cleaned with a metal polish.

  • It's supplied with a stitched leather pouch/sheath.  Perfect for protecting the knife when it's in a bag or in the Land Rover cubby box, where mine often lives. (** note that the sheath design has been updated and you will receive the lighter coloured stitched version shown in the images, not the original wet moulded version .... we need to do some more photography!)

    A thing of simple beauty

I gifted the brass version of this beautiful knife to my brother for his milestone 50th birthday. Normally when I buy a gift, I have to crack open the packaging to have a good look…but I resisted temptation with this as I knew I would have to keep it if I saw it! My brother absolutely loves it - the quality is outstanding, and the knife feels really special in the hand…yet it still retains the practicality of a good knife. Dealing with Edd was also an absolute pleasure and I’ll be dropping by Tinker and Fix again for milestone presents in the future (or even little treats for myself!)!
