Japanese saws cut on the pull stroke - which for me makes them perfect for pruning as you are often working above shoulder height.
This is a fixed pruning saw supplied with a plastic sheath. The rubber handle makes it comfortable to hold, but if you'd prefer a wooden handle then have a look here.
The blade is 27cm long and the rule of thumb is that they will cut up to a 1/3 of there length -so 9cm. You can cut larger branches but you will have to do significantly increase the number of strokes used.
Made in Japan from impact hardened SK-4 steel. Weighs 170grams - 270mm blade length and 440mm overall length.

Focusing on the pull stroke and remembering not to apply too much pressure, it was so easy to prune quite thick branches of both green and dead wood. Easy to get into more awkward spaces within a tree and with the sheath looped into my belt, I could work safely up a 3m ladder. With its quality replaceable blade, I can see already, this is going to be a really good purchase.
