Ideas for Gifting an axe this Christmas

An axe is probably one of my favourite gifts to receive.  Almost all of the axes that I own, and that's quiet a few, have been Christmas or birthday presents.  That means every time I pick one up to use, it triggers a memory - and a story that can be passed down with the tool.

We've just become a stockist of Gransfors Bruk axes from Sweden, which means we now offer three different levels of axe...all of which would make a great gift for an Axe fan like me:

Firstly, we offer three axes from Hultafors and these are the axes where we offer custom painted handles. They are great drop forged axes from Sweden and there are two that we recommend would make particularly good gifts: 

• Tinker and Fix x Hultafors Axe -  a large hatchet which is equally happy splitting kindling as it is working in the garden.  Available with a hand stitched sheath and with various painted handles.

Then you can step up to a Gransfors Bruk axe if you are looking for something hand forged. Our two recommendations for gifts are: 

• Gransfors Bruk Wildlife Hatchet - a great all round hatchet.  Makes a very good camping axe or kindle making companion to log burner.  Supplied with a leather sheath.
• Gransfors Bruk Small Splitting Axe - if you need to split smaller logs or halves then you don't need a heavy and long handled Maul.  For most UK uses then this splitting axe is plenty to keep your wood fire fuelled through the winter.
