Although we are big fans of the Toyo Steel toolboxes sometimes a heavy duty bag is the right choice for tool storage. Especially for larger garden tools or where you need to occasionally also carry larger parts.
When Carhartt dropped its tool tote bag from its range we started to look for a replacement.... and again that lead us to Japan.
These bags are made in Tokyo from a traditional heavy duty canvas woven in Japan. It has a tight pattern weave that makes it both durable and resistant to water absorption. Their simple design is immensely practical and versatile.
This is the slightly smaller of the two bag versions we are stocking (the larger one can be found here.) At 36cm long, 28cm high and 14cm wide its a great bag to store tool for either the garden or workshop. I've also got a feeling that this will be the size that will live in the back of the Land Rover as well.
It's called the 7 Pocket because it has seven external pockets. One at each end, which are also perfect for a water bottle. Then two on one side and three on the other. That's not all the pockets ... there are a further five on the inside and a clip for keys.
The main compartment can be left open or theres a two position strap that can be secured across the middle of the bag.
The main loop handles run from the base of the bag and up the sides. This construction greatly improves the strength of the handles as you are effectively lifting the bag from the base, rather than just the top edge. You also have the option of a removable shoulder strap.
