I came across The Wild Wanderer at a show recently and was immediately interested. Their products are made in small patches here in the UK and they focus on using non-toxic natural ingredients.
When it comes to oiling wooden handles on tools I've always used boiled Linseed oil. I find it works well when applied lightly, but it does need a couple of days curing time. Recently I've been trying Tung oil, which I've been liking as it does appear to cure faster than BLO and is apparently less prone to "yellowing" overtime.
But now I've found The Wild Wanderer's Whittler's Oil - which is a blend of both Linseed and Tung oil (plus mineral oil and Vitamin E) and I think I might have found my go to, especially for smaller handles on garden tools.
It's supplied in a 30ml glass dropper bottle. This means its really easy to apply small amounts directly to a wooden handle - or to the end grain of a wedge on a hammer or axe.
Food safe so also great for wooden spoons or bowls.
