The Wild Wanderer Honing Pastes

If you are serious about keeping a sharp working edge on your bladed items then honing is a critical step.  Honing compounds like these from The Wild Wanderer make that stroping/honing process more effective.

I work with leather a lot and I strop any knife I use before use.  This keeps the edge sharper for longer and I find that I don't have to go to the wet stone as frequently.

There are three different compounds in the range.  They are designed to work as a system - working from Trail(white), through Summit(green) and finishing with Iron(red).

Trail uses Aluminium Oxide

Summit uses Chromium Oxide

Iron uses Iron Oxide

Historically I've used Chromium Oxide on its own and would recommend going with Summit Edge if you just want a one step process.  I've now switched to using all three.

Each needs to be sparingly applied to a leather strop for use.  You will require a separate strop for each compound.

Supplied as a 20ml paste in a tin.  A little goes a long way.
