Opinel No 8 Forge Ebony Limited Edition
Opinel No 8 Forge Ebony Limited Edition
** This was a limited edition knife and we have sold out of our initial stock. If we do get the opportunity to purchase some more we will but its unlikely at the moment.**
Opinel are the classic French pocket knife. They've been making them in the Savorie region since 1890.
We're a big fan of their standard knives but they also often produce limited edtions. Being honest we've not stocked any of these before as none have really applied to us over the regular ones.
However, when I first saw the images of this latest one I knew things were about to change. Forged bladed with hammer marks. Textured ebony handle. Black Vibroloc barrel. Tick. Tick. Tick.
So what you are getting with this one is an Opinel No 8. Which is a great sized knife. It's not UK legal carry, but that's because of the blade lock and not the length.
The blade is very different to normal Opinels in that it has a forged hammer appearence with only the lower section of the blade having been ground. I've not been able to find out if the blade has truely been hand forged or whether this is just a finish thats been applied. It doesn't really matter as the final result looks great either way. The blade is carbon steel so will need to be oiled and kept dry.
The handle is Ebony, so black, and has been finished with an irregular faceted texture. It feels great in the hand and the black barrel lock sets of the stealth look perfectly.
Supplied in a presentation box.
