I like soap - always have. You know those fancy soaps you get given at Christmas as a random gift? The ones that live in most peoples cupboards until they get thrown away. Well, they get used in our house.
Although I tend to wear gloves when doing messy jobs in the workshop, its not always practical .... and having an old Land Rover means most jobs get my hands covered in some flavour of oil.
I used Swarfega type products for years and although they work well I did find that they tended to strip everything from my hands, leaving them really sore and dry. I then switched to using a handmade soap that used oats as an exfolinant. Coupled with a good nail brush I found this to be every bit as good as more harsh chemical liquid soaps.
When that bar eventually ran out - I couldn't remember where I bought it from - so went looking for a replacement. This bar is handmade in the Caller Valley by a company called Friendly Soap. Its an upgrade from that first bar as it uses volcanic pumice, ground olive stones and bicarbonate of soda to really lift the dirt and oil from your hands.
It also contains Lemon, cedarwood, Patchouli and tea tree oils - which not only smell great but are good at breaking down oils.
Sold either as a single bar or with a nail brush as well.
95gram bar - pH 8-9
Made in the UK
