One of the great consequences of attending various shows/events across the country is discovering new tools.  A conversation at a recent garden event in the Cotswolds led us to these trowels made by Shed 51.

The customer was raving about her favourite trowel which she'd has for a number of years.  She then disappeared off to fetch it - that was how excited she was to show me.  I'm really glad she did as I think they are a great concept.

Still made in the Cotswold, they were originally sold as "Uncle Peter's Trowel" at various markets in the area.  Apparently they developed quiet the cult following in the area.  The original maker worked in the aerospace industry and the design really reflects that.  They are now made by another retired aviation specialist under the Shed 51 name.

This Pricking out trowel is a new addition to the product range.  You can find the standard trowel here.

Made from a solid piece of copper.  It only weighs 50 grams!

This is as small trowel designed to be used when pricking out and potting on young seedlings.

However I could see it being used for houseplants as well.

21cm overall length with an 11cm blade.

The handle has a hammered finish.

A real pratical thing of beauty.
