With Autumn well and truly here we thought we'd put together two kits that contain the tools we use a lot at this time of the year.
It's approaching a time when we start cutting things back so a pair of secateurs and a folding pruning knife form the Autumn Pruning Kit.
The secateurs are Niwaki's Sentei Secateurs. Drop forged in Japan these in our opinion are a perfect blend of durability and hand crafted. They'll handle stem up to around the diameter of your little finger. For anything bigger than that then Opinel's Folding Pruning Saw takes over. It's a great quality, wooden handled saw. Simple and lightweight to carry and use.
The other thing we do in the Autumn is plant Spring flowering bulbs. We've found the Japanese garden trowel, the Hori Hori knife, is really good for this job. So in the Autumn Pruning and Bulb Planting kit we also include a stainless steel Hori Hori knife, with depth markers and a serrated edge.
All the tools are available individually, but there's a cost saving if you buy them as the kits.
