Some suggestions for knives to gift this Christmas

Penknives are one of Edd's passions and always a welcome gift at Christmas... we've a small selection of interesting and distinctive penknives that we reckon would be great for any penknife collector, user, or fan...

If you want to watch Edd talk through our recommendations for pocket knives that would make great gifts for somebody this Christmas... then have a watch here, or keep scrolling to read his thoughts and link through to buy one for your loved one's stocking for Christmas day!

My first penknife was a Buck, so that's going to be my first recommendation.  Buck are the classic American knife maker and I would recommend going with the Buck 112 Ranger.  It's a slightly smaller version of the classic 110 but I think it's more suitable for a life in the UK.  Hand made in the USA and featuring a brass and Ebony handle.  It's also supplied with a leather holster.

Next is a knife from Opinel, the famous French knife manufacturer.  Their standard knives are great but as a gift something a little different is great.  The Opinel No 8 Laminated Red Birch is exactly that - classic No 8 blade but with a bright and unusual handle that makes it easier to find when left on a workbench.

If you are looking for the unusual then we have the Husky folding knife from Anderson & Copra in Sweden.  This small husband and wife team make some beautiful knives.  The Husky blends a Japanese athestic with a very Scandi blade.  The copper version is my favourite and definitely would make a great addition to a collection or for an avid penknife fan (as they are unlikely to have a copper pen knife already).

Lastly we have the Fedeca It's My Knife kits.  These kits allow you to assemble your knife and then customise the wooden handle.  You can simply sand the handle to suit your hand or get more deeply involved with carving, staining or painting it.  The blades are all hand forged in Japan. They are really good for people who like to whittle, and make things, as much as for people who like penknives.

We plenty of other knives available on the website and you can find them here.
