I've been playing around with designs for a combined secateur and garden knife holster for awhile. This is the final version and I'm really happy with how its turned out. I grew up watching a lot of Westerns and this has ended up with a strong Clint Eastwood gun slinger vibe to it. For me that can only be a good thing.
The holster is based around a Niwaki Sentei secateur and an Opinel No 8 garden knife. This means it should fit most A and S shape Japanese style secateurs and knives that are similar to the Opinel No 8. Secateurs with a lot of bulk around the hinge, such as Felco, are unlikely to fit this design.
The holster is available on its own, or as a set with a new pair of Niwaki Sentei's and an Opinel garden knife. The belt is not included and just in the photo's for reference. Leather will mould to the shape of the tool and will be initially quiet tight. With use this will relax into a secure fit. If you are buying just the holster on its own it will be supplied "flat" and you'll stretch the leather when you insert your tools for the first time. We'll also supply a tin of our leather wax which helps with the moulding process and then can be applied overtime to keep the leather supple.
The holster is hand stitched and made from 3mm veg tan leather. This is extremely durable but will soften and shape with wear and use. It's roughly 20cm long and 15 cm wide with 4cm belt holes. It's been designed to be worn on a belt of between 1 and 1.5 inches. If you would like to use a wider belt than this then let me know and we can make one with larger holes for you.
Black and Tan is our standard colour, but happy to discuss custom options for both leather and thread colour. Each one is hand made by us so can easily be tailored to you requirements.
We're currently working on a version that will house a Felco #2. This requires the sheath to be larger than the one shown.
