Wire brushes

Wire brushes

Regular price £1.99 Sale

For me fixing anything old and mechanical usually means cleaning it first.  If I'm really lucky that can be the fix in itself but usually it just the first step.

This is my current metal cleaning setup;

  • small brass brush for detail and smaller items
  • large brass brush for larger areas
  • large steel wire brush for heavy dirt and rust
  • Copper cleaning cloth.  Used with water or a cleaning solvent these are amazing at lightly cleaning large areas of metal.  The copper cuts through dirt but its hard enough to heavily scratch the surface of whatever you are cleaning.

Available as a set, or individually.

Soft yet

I noticed a while ago that Sneeboer use brass bristled brushes (thats a hood tongue twister!) but always struggled to find any. Well, good old tinker and fix to the rescue! The point of brass over steel is that it's much softer, almost like a toothbrush but still abrasive enough to get through dried on dirt and muck. At the prices they are, I've got 6 (3 of each size) and put in shed, tool box and allotment so there's always one to hand. If you want to be really posh, drill a hole at the top and add some string and hang it up! Another brilliant product you didn't know you needed until you used it!
